Gunman in mask, armed with firearm, caught on camera during audacious drive-by shooting in Sydney, Australia.
In a concerning turn of events, Sydney has been gripped by a wave of public shootings, arson attacks, and kidnappings in recent weeks. The latest incident occurred in broad daylight near Brighton Le Sands, where a shooting outside a pub narrowly missed staff, resulting in the death of one man.
According to the NSW Police, the shooting took place at around 3pm and involved three men standing near a parked car. Dramatic footage released by the police shows an Audi SUV involved in the shooting and later engulfed in flames in a nearby suburb. The gunman, who was seen wearing a hoodie and white gloves, is currently being hunted by the police.
Another tragic incident occurred in Winston Hills, where another man was shot dead in his car. The total number of public shootings since Christmas is over a dozen, a stark increase in violence that has prompted the establishment of the 150-officer-strong Taskforce Falcon to combat underworld warfare.
Detectives are seeking to speak with a woman with long dark hair and wearing a black singlet who was seen speaking to the three men before the shooting. The woman with long dark brown hair and a black bikini top seen shortly before the Brighton Le Sands shooting, who spoke with the three victims later attacked by the masked shooter in an SUV, has not been publicly identified.
No injuries were reported, but three cars and a building were hit by gunfire. The shootings, arson attacks, and kidnappings have been ongoing since Christmas, causing alarm among the city's residents.
The Taskforce Falcon was set up in May to address the increase in violence. The shooting incidents are considered part of an underworld conflict. The police urge anyone with information to come forward and help bring the perpetrators to justice.
