If you have an Outlook.com, Hotmail.com, or Live.com email address and want to use a different email program, the SMTP server name for Outlook.com is and the port is 587. For Outlook 365, the server address is , using port 587 with TLS security.

For Comcast.net email addresses, the SMTP server address is with port number 465. If you want to send email through your Gmail account using Outlook, the server you will enter is and the port is 587.

To find or change your current SMTP server settings in Outlook for Mac, open the app, click the Outlook menu, then Settings, Accounts, and view or update your SMTP server. On a Mac, go to Outlook > Settings > Accounts, then double-click your email address to view or change the SMTP server.

In the latest version of Outlook for Windows, as well as on Outlook.com, open the app, click the gear icon, Accounts, Manage, and view or update your SMTP server. To view or update your SMTP server in Outlook for Windows, go to File > Info > Account Settings > Account Settings, then double-click your email address.

For Outlook 365 (Outlook Classic) for Windows, open the app, click the File tab, then click Info, Account Settings, Account Settings, double-click your email address, and find and edit the SMTP server under "Server Information."

If you're using your Outlook.com email address in Outlook or another Microsoft 365 or Exchange account, you will not be able to view or enter an SMTP server. If you want to use a different email account (e.g., Gmail, your work account, your email account from your ISP) in Outlook 365, New Outlook, or Outlook.com, you need to get the SMTP server address from your email provider.

If necessary, add a new account by clicking Add account at the top, selecting Advanced options, and checking the box next to "Let me set up my account manually."
