In an exciting development for music lovers, Spotify has rolled out an in-app messaging feature that allows users to share music and content directly with each other. Here's a breakdown of how this new feature works and what you need to know.

To start a conversation, users can invite others by sending them a chat link from their contacts. This makes it easy to connect with friends and share your favourite tracks without leaving the app.

Once you receive a message, you can react to it by long-pressing or tapping on the message. A variety of emojis are available to express your feelings about the music.

But what about privacy? Spotify has taken steps to ensure your messages are secure. Messages are encrypted during transit and at rest, although it's important to note that they are not end-to-end encrypted. If conversations are flagged, Spotify may review them if reported.

To access your messages, simply tap your profile picture and go to the Messages section. From there, you can open any conversation to view your chat history.

If you prefer to turn off messages, navigate to Settings, then Privacy and Social, and toggle off Messages. This will prevent you from receiving new messages, but you can always turn it back on if you change your mind.

It's also worth noting that while the in-app messaging feature is being rolled out globally, the exact available countries have not been detailed yet. Spotify users can currently use the in-app messaging function in various countries, but the list is not comprehensive.

Lastly, users can approve chat requests from Spotify links sent on various apps like WhatsApp, Instagram, TikTok, and more. This makes it easy to connect with other Spotify users, no matter where you are.

With this new feature, Spotify is making it easier than ever to share your love for music with friends. So, go ahead and start a conversation today!
