Guidance and Assistance for Young Individuals in Vocational Paths
The Professional Mentorship project, funded by the Hessian Ministry of Social Affairs and Integration, is seeking more life and work-experienced volunteers in Kassel. This project, sponsored by AGiL, aims to support young people, particularly those with migration or refugee backgrounds, in their transition from school to work.
Brigitte Vogler, the project coordinator, explains that they are looking for individuals with professional knowledge and life experience to join this worthwhile initiative. Mentors will be integrated into a well-organized and professionally supervised network, offering regular meetings, networking events, and training sessions to support volunteers.
The mentorships often continue even after the young person starts their apprenticeship. In addition to individual support, mentors also train young people in cooperation with schools to prepare them for real job interviews. This holistic approach ensures that the young people are well-equipped for the challenges of the working world.
Currently, around 50 volunteers are already helping with career orientation, writing applications, finding internships and apprenticeships, and preparing for job interviews. Mentors receive compensation for their expenses in the project.
If you are interested in making a difference in the lives of young people and have professional experience to share, consider volunteering for the Professional Mentorship project.
