"Grieving Young Woman Expresses Remorse Over Fatal Stabbing of Boyfriend"
In a tragic turn of events, a 21-year-old woman named Lilian has been arrested by the Delta State Police Command for the murder of her 34-year-old partner. The incident occurred at Ijanpa Road axis of the state.
According to the state police spokesperson, Bright Edafe, the arrest was made following an altercation that led to the deceased's death. The fight broke out due to a misunderstanding caused by Lilian trying to end the relationship with her partner.
Lilian revealed during interrogation that the argument between them started because the deceased ignored her request to collect the meter from their neighbor to recharge electricity. She claimed that the deceased beat her with a cane and a comb during the incident, and in self-defence, she picked up a knife from the kitchen and stabbed him in the chest.
Edafe confirmed that Lilian will be charged with murder. He urged Nigerians to manage their temper to avoid tragic outcomes like this one.
It is worth noting that Lilian had been cohabiting with the deceased since she was 17 years old, and they have two sons, aged three and two.
Lilian expressed regret over the deceased's death and stated that the deceased beat her with a cane and smashed her head on the ground before she stabbed him.
At the time of the incident, the Governor of Delta State was Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, who was in office during 2024 and into 2025.
Edafe also added that the investigation into the matter is still ongoing, and more details will be released as they become available. The state police command is urging anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward and speak with the authorities.
