Upcoming SVolt manufacturing plant - Greens discuss using taxpayer funds as if playing cards.

The future of SVolt on the Linslerfeld in Saarland remains uncertain, with Economic Minister Jürgen Barke (SPD) seemingly playing a high-stakes game with the state's future. Jeanne Dillschneider, the state chairwoman of the Greens, criticized this strategy, saying, "The Minister of Economic Affairs desperately needs to create transparency about the future of the site and realign his one-sided approach."

This is not the first time the state government has made risky financial bets and promised investments in a location without first establishing solid framework conditions. Dillschneider argued that SVolt does not feel connected to the Linslerfeld site and relies on the state's responsibility.

She believes that the Saarland government has not considered more environmentally friendly alternatives for the location. Dillschneider cautions Barke not to cede to demands for more subsidies.

Sustainable land management

The Greens are advocating for a rethink of the state's land policy, aiming to provide companies with opportunities that don't involve more land consumption. Dillschneider strongly urges Barke to focus on currently idle commercial and industrial areas, known as "brownfields." And she believes this should be done before any areas are fully developed without a guaranteed investor and potentially harming nature.
