The North Hanoi Smart City project, a joint venture between VinGroup, Sumitomo Corporation, and CPG Corporation, is set to revolutionise the capital city of Hanoi and the country as a whole. Located in the Vinh Thanh commune and spanning over 270 hectares, the project is among 80 key developments nationwide launched on Vietnam's National Day on September 2.

The North Hanoi Smart City project aims to create a modern hub for finance, commerce, and services, while also contributing significantly to the socioeconomic development of both Hanoi and the country. It will be developed around six smart pillars: energy, governance, living, healthcare/education, mobility, and economy.

In line with these pillars, the project will comprehensively develop a smart city focused on renewable energy use and energy-saving technologies to achieve carbon neutrality. This commitment to sustainability makes North Hanoi Smart City Vietnam's first carbon-neutral urban area.

To expedite the project, the Vinh Thanh commune authorities have been tasked with clearing the remaining 3.3 hectares. The municipal departments, agencies, and commune authorities have been asked to work in close coordination and promptly address any obstacles during implementation.

The North Hanoi Smart City project will integrate Japanese expertise in education and healthcare, attracting high-quality scientific and technological human resources and international experts. It will also strictly adhere to environmental and social welfare requirements, applying disaster-resilient urban planning with advanced Japanese technology.

Hirokazu Higashino, CEO and president of Sumitomo Corporation Asia & Oceania Group, emphasised that the North Hanoi Smart City project is not only an advancement in smart urban technology but also a symbol of friendship and close ties between Vietnam and Japan.

An integrated management system will enable disaster prevention and response, flood and fire control, and comprehensive security in the North Hanoi Smart City. The project is expected to create tens of thousands of jobs, promoting innovation to attract high-tech industries.

The investor is expected to mobilise resources efficiently and accelerate construction progress. The Ministry of Transportation and Communications is committed to promoting the "National Hope Project" governance goals and advocating digital technology and net-zero transformation.

The North Hanoi Smart City project will apply advanced technologies and guarantee quality standards. It will also promote innovation to attract high-tech industries. With its focus on renewable energy, carbon neutrality, and smart urban development, the North Hanoi Smart City project promises to be a beacon of progress and sustainability in Vietnam.
