In a shocking turn of events, a grandmother in the Georgian city of Kutaisi has been detained on charges of abusing her young grandchild during a live video on TikTok.
The incident, which involved a child under the age of two, was first reported by another social media user and later confirmed by Beka Kvachantiradze, who uploaded the video on Facebook and reported the case to the police.
According to the reports, the woman displayed aggression towards her grandchild, causing the child to cry. However, the TikTok live video does not show the woman visibly striking the child. In her defence, the woman later claimed that the child grabbed a plate and threw it, after which she became more aggressive and struck the child's hand.

Despite the detention, no further information is provided about the current status of the investigation or the grandmother's legal situation beyond her detention and pretrial detention.
The incident has sparked outrage on social media, with many calling for stricter laws to protect children from abuse. The Interior Ministry of Georgia has launched an investigation into the matter and is working to ensure justice for the young victim.
