Government entity MOHRE and private company e& collaborate to digitize payment for domestic workers

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) has partnered with e& money to modernize wage payments for domestic workers in the United Arab Emirates. This collaboration aims to democratize access to secure and seamless financial services, enhancing the quality of life for everyone, including domestic workers.

For the first time, the partnership extends the Ministry's Wage Protection System (WPS) to cover domestic workers. Employers, after registration through the designated MOHRE services section, can view their workers' details pre-filled within the e& money platform. This streamlined process allows employers to manage and transfer salaries for registered domestic workers seamlessly and in compliance with existing labor legislation.

Melike Kara, CEO of e& money, stated that the collaboration is about innovating financial accessibility to empower workers, support businesses, and foster trust across the financial ecosystem. She reiterated this goal, emphasizing the partnership's intention to make salary management more efficient and more inclusive for domestic workers.

The integration of the Ministry's WPS model into the e& money platform is achieved through the integration of MOHRE’s WPS APIs. This integration ensures accurate, fast, and fully compliant payments for domestic workers. Each worker is provided with an IBAN, digital wallet, and prepaid Mastercard, enhancing their financial inclusion.

Dalal Alshehhi, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Labour Protection at MOHRE, reinforced the partnership's intention, stating that the partnership reflects MOHRE's ongoing commitment to safeguarding workers' rights, particularly for domestic workers. She added that the initiative is designed to safeguard worker rights while simplifying salary management for households.

The collaboration between MOHRE and e& money is part of a broader push towards modernizing fund management systems in the United Arab Emirates. By providing a secure, compliant, and efficient wage disbursement system, the partnership aims to foster trust and transparency in the financial ecosystem, benefiting both employers and workers alike.

Individuals employing domestic workers can access wage protection services directly via the e& money app. The pre-filled platform ensures a smooth, hassle-free experience for all parties involved. The partnership between MOHRE and e& money marks a significant step towards financial inclusion for domestic workers in the UAE.
