SportsBiz Africa Golf Championship: Nsanzuwera Leads as Kenyan Golfers Shine

The SportsBiz Africa Golf Championship, held at the picturesque Kigali Golf Resort & Villas course, is heating up as Rwanda's Celestin Nsanzuwera continues to lead the tournament with a sensational performance.

Nsanzuwera's overall score after two rounds is an impressive 13-under-par 131 gross, a significant lead over the rest of the field. His success can be attributed to staying calm, hitting every fairway, and having just 23 putts all round.

The home crowd was thrilled as Nsanzuwera improved his lead in the championship with a score of 9-under-par 63 gross in the second round. His performance was so impressive that it left C.J. Wangai, who remains second on the leaderboard with a total score of 138 gross, sharing the spot with South Africa's Travis Procter and Haydn Porteous, struggling to keep up.

Meanwhile, the Kenyan golfers are making their presence felt. Sixteen Kenyan golfers made the cut in the tournament, including Charles. J. Wangai, Jastas Madoya, Dismas Indiza, Mutahi Kibugu, Samuel Njoroge, Michael Karanga, John Lejirma, David Wakhu, Ken Abuto, Greg Snow, Daniel Nduva, Mohit Mediratta, Jacob Okello, and Njoroge Kibugu.

One Kenyan golfer, Naomi Wafula, made headlines with her rare and iconic achievement in golf. During the second round, Wafula hit a 'Hole-in-One' on the par-3 second hole at Kigali Golf Resort & Villas course. This impressive feat helped her post a score of 4-under-par 68 gross for the round, securing her a place among the top 30 players for the final round.

Eric Ooko, who was tied for second after the first round, dropped to just outside the top three with a score of 5-under-par 139 gross. However, Wafula's performance moved her up the leaderboard, with a tournament total of 1-over-par 145 gross.

The final round of the SportsBiz Africa Golf Championship will feature a prize purse of USD 25,000, along with Sunshine Development Tour points, Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) points, and World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) points.

Nsanzuwera, reflecting on his plan for the final round, said, "I plan to continue playing the fairways, trusting my putts, and staying focused." He also mentioned that his knowledge of the course played a significant role in his performance.

The SportsBiz Africa Golf Championship is part of the Sunshine Tour, a series of professional golf tournaments held in Africa. As the tournament enters its final round, the excitement is palpable, with Nsanzuwera looking to continue his impressive form and the Kenyan golfers aiming to make their mark.
