Global Silico Manganese Market Forecast to Achieve USD 40.05 Billion by 2033
In the dynamic world of metal production, the silico manganese sector is seeing a surge in growth, with numerous companies investing heavily in technology, facilities, and research and development.
Tata Steel, a prominent player, recently expanded its silico manganese production capabilities with a significant investment of USD 150 million. This investment will enable Tata Steel to leverage new technology and facilities, boosting its production capacity.
Similarly, Sakura Ferroalloys completed a major upgrade to its manufacturing plant, increasing its production capacity by 25%. Other key players like Eramet, Brahm Group, Jinneng Group, Nippon Denko Co., Ltd., Sheng Yan Group, and Steel Force have also made substantial investments to enhance their production efficiency and meet the rising demand for silico manganese.
The market growth is primarily driven by the increasing demand for steel and stainless steel, particularly in the automotive and construction sectors. This demand has led to a projected annual increase of 5% in the demand for silico manganese.
China, a significant player in the global market, produced approximately 3.5 million tonnes of silico manganese in 2023, with exports reaching approximately 1.4 million tonnes. India, another key consumer, reported domestic consumption of around 2.4 million metric tons in 2022-2023.
The average silicon content in the produced silico manganese is about 60% by weight, with a yield efficiency of approximately 85%. The average price of silico manganese in India was around USD 720 per metric ton in 2023, while the cost of producing it from manganese ore and copper slag is estimated to be USD 1,100 per tonne.
Companies like OM Holdings Ltd., Glencore, and Ferroglobe have also joined the bandwagon, investing in new production lines, facilities, and technologies to significantly boost their production capacity. Ferroglobe, for instance, has expanded its operations by investing USD 200 million in a new production facility in South America, aiming to increase its production capacity by 30%.
The global Silico Manganese Market is projected to reach USD 40.05 billion by 2033, growing at a CAGR of 5.5% from 2023 to 2033. Despite these promising figures, challenges remain, including fluctuations in raw material prices, environmental regulations, and energy costs.
As the industry continues to evolve, it is clear that investments in silico manganese production will play a crucial role in meeting the growing demand for steel and stainless steel, driving the market forward.
