Brossart and Beechwood Dominate Class 1A Region Track Meet

The Class 1A Region Track and Field meet saw some intense competition, but it was Brossart and Beechwood that emerged as the dominant forces.

Brossart secured a fifth consecutive win in the girls' division, while Beechwood finished a close second in the boys' division. St. Henry took the third spot in the girls' division, and Newport Central Catholic placed third in the boys' division.

In the girls' competition, Lily Parke, a junior from Beechwood, claimed victories in the 800, 1600, and 3200 races. Zoey Woosley, a senior from Brossart, added to the team's success by winning the 100-meter hurdles and contributing to the gold medal-winning 4×100 relay team. Peyton Trauth, another junior from Brossart, won the long jump event, and Ava Walters, a junior, took the discus event.

Anna Curtsinger, a sophomore from Brossart, soared to victory in the pole vault, and Tripp Wilson, another sophomore, added the triple jump title to Brossart's tally.

Brossart's dominance was evident in the points table, as they scored more points than the combined total of the next two teams, St. Henry and Beechwood. Zoey Woosley also had a commendable performance, placing second in the 300 hurdles and third in the long jump.

St. Henry's Lizzie Casey won the triple jump event, and Stella Flick, a freshman from St. Henry, claimed the 300 hurdles title.

In the boys' competition, Mark Antrobus, a senior from Villa Madonna, won the 4×800 relay and the 1600 run events. Nathan Pabst, a sophomore, and Broady Aylor, a junior, from Beechwood were part of the winning team in the 4×100 and 4×200 relays.

Charlie Ford, a senior from NewCath, had a stellar performance, winning the 100, 200 dashes, and the long jump event. Marcello Herald, a senior from Bellevue, won both the 110 and 300 hurdles events.

Brossart's Joe Schroeder won the shot put event, and Alex Combs, a senior from Brossart, added the high jump event to the team's tally. Hayden Harlan, a sophomore from St. Henry, won the high jump event.

In the boys' division, Brossart won all four relays and netted 112 points in seven individual races, but it was not enough to dethrone Beechwood, who scored 119 points. Newport Central Catholic took third place with 62 points.

The Class 1A Region Track and Field meet was a testament to the talent and dedication of the athletes from the participating schools. The winners now look forward to the state meet, where they will aim to continue their winning streak.
