Stunned reactions on the playground - Girl freed from drain with her arm in a pipe

One seemingly ordinary day changed into a frightful incident for a mother from Dresden. After taking her toddler, Saskia (whose name has been altered for privacy), for a post-nap stroll in the Niedersedlitz district, she stopped by a small playground in the courtyard of a housing complex. This playground featured a sandpit, a slide, and a swinging animal - perfect for young children.

A Curious Event: The Hand Stuck In The Pipe

While they were there, Saskia was drawn to the balcony of one of the buildings. There she found pebbles scattered about and played with them. In a split second, Saskia found a hole in the structure and reached inside.

Attempts To Free The Hand

Before the fire department could be summoned, a local resident tried to remove Saskia's hand from the restricting pipe using olive oil. Alarmed by Saskia's screams, they could not remove the child without causing more pain.

The Emergency Crews' Arrival

In the next few minutes, twelve ambulances from the Striesen fire and rescue station, Reick rescue station, and the Niedersedlitz district fire department arrived at the scene.

Mother (23) and daughter (1) at the scene of the accident. She asked BILD to remain anonymous.

The End: No Long-Lasting Damage

After examining Saskia's arm, the rescue workers confirmed that she had not been injured.

Preventing Future Accidents

With a sense of relief, the mother contemplates if installing a grille or a flap over similar pipes near playgrounds could be a potential solution to future mishaps.
