New Karls Experience Village Coming to Wernigerode - Germany’s New Strawberry-Themed Adventure Village to Open in 2028

A new strawberry-themed adventure village is set to open in Wernigerode, Saxony-Anhalt. The €30 million project will mark the latest expansion of Karls Adventure Villages, a chain known for family-friendly attractions. Planned for a 2028 launch, it promises to become a major draw for the Harz region.

The development will cover around 12 hectares in Wernigerode. Like other Karls Adventure Villages, it will centre on strawberries, offering themed activities and products. This follows the company’s shift from selling strawberry goods to running leisure destinations.

Local officials have welcomed the plans. Mayor Tobias Kascha called it the largest tourism project in the town’s history. District administrator Thomas Balcerowski described it as a new flagship for Harz tourism. The site is expected to create 180 permanent jobs and 120–130 seasonal roles.

Karls Adventure Villages already operates seven locations across northern and eastern Germany. An eighth is under construction in Oberhausen. The Wernigerode project will be the ninth in the growing network.

The village is scheduled to open in spring 2028. Its strawberry theme and family-focused attractions aim to boost visitor numbers in the Harz region. With significant investment and job creation, the project represents a major expansion for both the company and local tourism.
