Germany’s ‘Disobedience Now!’ Movement Grows Against Militarisation and Far-Right Politics

A wave of protests against militarisation and far-right politics has swept across Germany in recent months. The 'Disobedience Now!' campaign, launched in april, has organised rallies, strikes, and conferences to challenge the country’s military policies and social cuts. Thousands have taken to the streets in cities like Stuttgart, Berlin, and Nuremberg to voice their opposition.

The campaign began in april as a response to Germany’s Zeitenwende (turning point) policy and the rise of far-right influence. By autumn, nationwide demonstrations had gained traction, with large rallies in Berlin and Stuttgart opposing war and militarisation.

The campaign continues to expand, with protests, strikes, and conferences planned in the coming months. Organisers aim to build broader opposition to militarisation, social cuts, and far-right politics. Future actions include a school strike in december and a major demonstration against an arms fair in 2026.
