Nearly 2.9 Million Euros in Lottery Winnings Head to the Westerwald - German lottery player wins €2.9M—just one number shy of €35M jackpot

A lucky lottery player from Germany's Westerwald region has scooped nearly €2.9 million. The winner came within one bonus number of landing the €35 million jackpot. Their identity remains unknown after buying the ticket without a customer card.

The winning stake cost around €105 and was drawn in the latest Lotto 6 aus 49 game. To claim the prize, the winner must contact Lotto Rheinland-Pfalz. This marks the second million-euro win in Rhineland-Palatinate this year alone.

Just last week, two other players from the same region secured six-figure payouts. The state's biggest Lotto 6 aus 49 prize was €33.8 million in 2015. For Eurojackpot, the record stands at roughly €80.4 million, won in January 2025, with another €53.7 million jackpot claimed in January 2026.

The latest win adds to a string of high-value payouts in the region. The winner's ticket, bought anonymously, must be validated before the funds are released. Lotto Rheinland-Pfalz will handle the claim process and confirm the details once completed.
