German law enforcement officials detained Romanian individuals at border checkpoints following their expulsion from the country.

In a recent development, a Romanian national was arrested by the Federal Police Inspectorate Rosenheim on August 27th. The individual was apprehended on the A93 in Kiefersfelden.

The Federal Police Inspectorate Rosenheim is responsible for the districts of Miesbach, Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, and Rosenheim. This inspectorate covers a roughly 200-kilometer-long section of the German-Austrian border and ensures the safety of rail passengers and railway facilities on approximately 370 kilometers of track and in around 70 stations and stops.

The Romanian national was taken to Bernau Prison by Rosenheim Federal Police officers. It is likely that the individual will spend 195 days in prison. The head of the Federal Police Inspectorate Rosenheim was not specified in the article.

The Romanian national had an outstanding arrest warrant and was sentenced to a multi-year prison term for theft with weapons by the Düsseldorf Regional Court in 2020. Upon his return to Germany, the remaining sentence became due.

The Federal Police Inspectorate Rosenheim primarily works against the smuggling of foreigners and irregular, illegal migration. The approximately 450 inspectorate members are particularly active against cross-border crime.
