German business Vitronic establishes its initial location in the Mexican city of Queretaro
Vitronic Expands Presence in Mexico to Serve Growing Automation Market
In a significant move to bolster its international presence and better serve the Latin American market, German artificial vision technology company Vitronic has opened its first office in Mexico. Located in Querétaro, the new office was announced in 2018 and now serves as a legal entity and software development centre.
With Mexico positioning itself as the seventh largest producer in the automotive sector in 2023, manufacturing over 3.5 million vehicles from January to November, the market potential in the logistics and automotive industries is considerable. This has not gone unnoticed by Vitronic, as the company has focused its attention on these industries in North America.
Vitronic Mexico will continue to specialize in image-based quality inspection, identification, and process optimization, which will be particularly beneficial for the automotive and logistics industries. The Queretaro office will also focus on automation solutions for these industries, as well as automated traffic control.
The expansion of the Queretaro office is expected to create 12 new full-time positions, further solidifying Vitronic's commitment to innovation and technological development in the region. This commitment is reaffirmed by the company's investment of $17 million in research and development in 2022, which contributed to its consolidated revenue exceeding $221 million in the same year.
Luis Rodríguez, Country Manager of Vitronic México, stated that Mexico has proven to be a valuable market for automated welding inspection solutions. This success in Queretaro has reinforced Vitronic's decision to approach the Mexican market.
Kjell Lyngstad, President and CEO of Vitronic North America, expressed his enthusiasm about the new office, stating, "We are excited to expand our presence in Mexico and better serve our customers in the region. The Queretaro office will include a Customer Collaboration Center and a Development Competence Center, allowing us to collaborate closely with our clients and develop innovative solutions tailored to their needs."
The new office is located in the same city where the German multinational BOSCH is building a US$215 plant, further illustrating the attractiveness of Queretaro for international companies seeking to establish a presence in Mexico. Vitronic Mexico looks forward to continuing its growth and contributing to the development of the automation and traffic solutions market in the region.
