In the heart of Spain, the picturesque town of ValdepeƱas is preparing for a double celebration. The annual Fiestas de la Vendimia y el Vino, officially celebrated from September 1 to 8, are approaching, and this year, they are preceded by a special event – the X Encuentro de Encajeras de Bolillos.

Over 150 lace makers, including some men, gathered at the Pabellón Ferial 'Esteban López Vega' for this significant event. The gathering was a prelude to the Fiestas de la Vendimia y el Vino, with some participants coming from associations in MÔlaga.

The X Encuentro de Encajeras de Bolillos is a platform for lace makers from different points of the province to exchange ideas and patterns. The event, attended by the teniente de alcalde de Cultura of ValdepeƱas, Vanessa Irla, highlighted the importance of preserving the traditional work of lace-making.

Vicenta Peña, the president of the Asociación Amigas Encajeras de Valdepeñas, mentioned that the meetings allow for the exchange of lace patterns among participants. The association, which functions like a family, shares tips for giving beginner and advanced classes.

Irla stated that through lace-making, generations are connected, and she encourages more young people to join in order to maintain the tradition. The current president of the Asociación Amigas Encajeras de Valdepeñas is not publicly available.

The artisan art of lace making was also highlighted by the Valdepeñas lace association. The Asociación Amigas Encajeras de Valdepeñas maintains the tradition of lace-making in Valdepeñas with around thirty active members.

During the festivities, the Universidad Popular offers courses in lace-making throughout the year, providing an opportunity for those interested to learn the intricate craft.

The Fiestas de la Vendimia y el Vino are annual festivities in ValdepeƱas, celebrating the region's wine harvest. The events include parades, music, and traditional wine tastings, making it a must-visit for culture enthusiasts.

As the date of the Fiestas de la Vendimia y el Vino approaches, ValdepeƱas is buzzing with anticipation. The X Encuentro de Encajeras de Bolillos served as a reminder of the town's rich cultural heritage and its commitment to preserving traditional crafts.
