Gathering of boaters pays tribute to Captain Bill following his demise at DuSable Harbor: 'Sacrificed for our safety'

The vigil was organised by Alan Brandt Malelo, a friend of Nabil Abzal. According to Brandt Malelo, Nabil may have been attacked by a group and was possibly thrown into the water at the end of the dock and didn't return.
The close-knit boating community is in shock over the loss of their friend, affectionately known as Captain Bill. Friends remember him for his cheerful face and his love for the harbour.
Chicago police are investigating Nabil Abzal's death as a homicide, and a nearby restaurant owner has provided surveillance footage to aid in the investigation.
