Gathering in Hanau: 4,500 residents during the annual citizens' weekend event

In the heart of Hanau, the long-vacant Kaufhof building has been the centre of attention for the past few days, as the local community came together to learn about its future. The "Kaufhof Geht - Stadthof Kommt" citizens' weekend, organised by Hanau Marketing GmbH, provided residents with a unique opportunity to engage with the plans for the building's transformation.

The event, held from May 26 to 28, attracted more people than initially expected. Approximately 4,500 residents of Hanau visited the empty Kaufhof building during the three-day period, exploring it from the attic to the basement. A wish wall was available for residents to express their critiques, suggestions, and ideas about the building.

The town hall meeting, attended by around 150 Hanau residents, was a chance for residents to listen to the project managers of Stadthof before the citizen weekend. Daniel Freimuth, Managing Director of Hanau Marketing GmbH, expressed his satisfaction with the turnout during the event. Mayor Claus Kaminsky summarised that Stadthof is being well received in Hanau.

Potential tenants were present at the citizen weekend every day, providing insights into their plans for the building. The goal is for the first new users to move into the Kaufhof building on the market square this year.

The prominent Kaufhof building in Hanau has been vacant for some time, but its future is now being shaped by the community. Lectures about the plans, goals, and significance of the Kaufhof building for the quarter were attended during the event.

A "Complaint Meeting" focused on Stadthof, prior to the citizen weekend, attracted around 150 guests. The event provided opportunities for residents to gather information about the building's past, present, and future.

The Kaufhof building, a landmark in Hanau, is now being taken over by Stadthof. The community's involvement in the transformation process has been a key focus, ensuring that the building remains an integral part of the city's fabric.
