Gathering at the Schöntal: The Schöntal Picnic Family Event

In the heart of Aschaffenburg on Sunday, July 13th, from 12:30 PM to 5 PM, the city and numerous associations will host the "Picnic im Schönthal" family festival. The event, which aims to foster encounters, exchanges, and shared remembrance, will take place in the park surrounding the Blue Piano.

The participating organizations for interactive activities include Migrants for Migrants e.V., One Day e.V., GESTA e.V., MIZ e.V., the city of Aschaffenburg's integration guides, and family support points. These associations will offer a variety of activities such as painting, crafting, and printing for children and families.

The meadow by the Blue Piano will be transformed into a vibrant hub, featuring a diverse stage program. Highlights include performances by the Circus Theo d'Or, street magic show "Magician Wunderlich", the puppet show "The Emperor's New Clothes", and the family concert with "Geraldino & the Plomster".

Refreshments will be provided by Frida's ice cream truck and the Aschaffenburg Solidarity Café's wagon, ensuring that everyone stays energized throughout the day. Visitors are invited to bring their own food for a communal picnic under the open sky, making it a truly shared experience.

The memorial site in the Schönthal, where a knife attack occurred on January 22, 2025, is a central part of the festival. The event is organised as a stance against exclusion and violence, promoting unity and understanding among the community.

From 1 PM, there will be a special interactive and discussion offer for children and adults, designed in collaboration with the churches and the two Moroccan mosques. This offer aims to foster open dialogue and mutual respect, reinforcing the festival's message of inclusivity.
