Gather 'round! The Marburger Network has extended an invitation for the network gathering, scheduled for the 2nd of September.

The "Marburger Network for Democracy and against Right-wing Extremism" is set to host a network meeting on Tuesday, 2nd September, at the Technology and Conference Center (TTZ), Softwarecenter 3, 35037 Marburg. The meeting, which will take place after the summer break, will resume every first Tuesday of the month from September onwards.

The theme of the meeting, as decided by the network council in a meeting in June, is "Hate Speech". The gathering will take place in the University Town Marburg, and attendees can look forward to two 30-minute presentations from two speakers, followed by a question and answer session and discussion.

Stefanie Zacharias from HateAid, a non-profit organization that advocates for human rights in the digital space, will be one of the speakers. She will provide concrete recommendations for the action of politics and society, as well as each individual, for a better coexistence that respects freedom of expression and enables participation.

Hanno Wilk, head of the department of internet crime at the Hessian General Prosecutor's Office, will also speak at the meeting. His speech will focus on the legal dimension of hate speech, addressing questions such as "What is punishable? What does the justice system do? How can I defend myself? Is a complaint useful?"

Before the two presentations, members of "Omas gegen Rechts Marburg" will share their experiences with hate speech. The group is known for their action in the city area, where they painted parking spaces in rainbow colors, which resulted in hate postings on social media in the spring of this year.

The meeting is scheduled to start at 6 pm in the Technology and Conference Center (TTZ), Softwarecenter 3, 35037 Marburg. The search results do not provide specific information about the other speaker or the perspective presented at the meeting. However, attendees can expect an engaging and informative discussion on the crucial topic of hate speech.
