Gaming businesses in the Philippines join forces to establish a safety-focused gambling association

The PlaySafe Alliance of the Philippines, a coalition of 19 PAGCOR-approved licensed online gambling operators and a legal advisory firm, has emerged as a significant player in the local igaming industry. Based in the Philippines, the alliance is not a government organization but is focused on ensuring regulatory compliance and promoting safe gambling practices.

The PlaySafe Alliance is actively involved in the ongoing discussion about the future of the igaming industry in the Philippines, advocating for stricter regulatory oversight to protect consumers. They emphasize that proper regulation provides greater consumer protection and harm mitigation, especially in contrast to non-PAGCOR-licensed operators.

Key initiatives of the PlaySafe Alliance include promoting safe gambling, advocating for regulatory reform, and collaborating with legal experts to align their efforts with Philippine laws and international best practices. The alliance supports the Philippine Senate's efforts to discuss and possibly enact legislation that bans or curbs illegal or unregulated online gambling activities.

The alliance is addressing the issue of illegal igaming, which is estimated to comprise approximately 70% of the local market. They have pledged to enhance consumer protection and are working towards regulatory reform to distinguish regulated gambling from illegal activity.

At a recent event in Taguig City, the PlaySafe Alliance expanded its membership to include DigiPlus Interactive and World Platinum Technologies. The alliance serves as a collective voice for licensed gambling operators, advocating for responsible gambling and supporting legislative reforms aimed at reducing gambling-related harm in the Philippines.

The government of the Philippines is currently discussing the future of the igaming industry, and the PlaySafe Alliance is associated with COMPLETE iGAMING and Sam Bentham, who are likely playing a role in these discussions. As the alliance continues to grow and advocate for safer gambling practices, it is poised to have a significant impact on the future of online gambling in the Philippines.
