Gabrielle Union-Wade Signs Up for 'Don't Miss' Initiative, Pushing for Regular Doctor Appointments and Necessary Immunizations

In a joint effort with Vaccinate Your Family, Merck has launched a new public health campaign called Don't Skip. The aim of this initiative is to motivate families to schedule well-visits and stay up to date on all recommended vaccines, especially for young children and preteens who may have missed some vaccines during the pandemic.

The campaign features actress Gabrielle Union-Wade and her family, with a series of public service announcements to emphasize the importance of not skipping doctor's visits and recommended vaccines, even during these challenging times.

Vaccinate Your Family, a nonprofit organisation founded by Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter and Former First Lady of Arkansas Betty Bumpers, has been working for three decades to help protect people of all ages from vaccine-preventable diseases. The organisation reaches millions of individuals through their World Health Organization (WHO)-certified website, social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, and the Shot of Prevention blog.

Merck, known as MSD outside of the United States and Canada, has been in existence for 130 years. The company's mission is to save and improve lives by inventing for life, bringing forward medicines and vaccines for many challenging diseases. Merck's executive vice president and chief patient officer, Dr. Julie Gerberding, expresses concern about the decline in recommended vaccination rates and doctor visits during the pandemic.

Amy Pisani, executive director of Vaccinate Your Family, encourages parents to ask their child's doctor now if their child is due for, or has missed, any recommended vaccinations. Doctors are taking precautions to help keep their offices safe, such as special hours for well-visits, wait-in-car policies, and limiting the number of people who attend visits.

Timing to return to doctors' offices is important as public venues are starting to reopen and families are planning for summer break activities and a return to school later this year. Merck demonstrates its commitment to patients and population health by increasing access to healthcare through far-reaching policies, programs, and partnerships.
