Funeral Held for Iconic Designer, Armani

Giorgio Armani, the renowned Italian fashion designer, passed away last Thursday at the age of 91. His private funeral service was held on September 8, 2025, at a church in Rivalta, near his birthplace of Piacenza in northern Italy.

The town of Rivalta was closed to tourists and visitors before the funeral, with a sign stating that the closure was in memory of Giorgio Armani. The multinational corporation operates over 600 boutiques globally, and all Armani stores worldwide closed at 3:00 PM on September 8, 2025, in respect of the designer's funeral.

The funeral was attended by family members, close associates, and notable personalities. Among those attending were Armani's life and business partner Leo Dell'Orco, his sister, nieces, and nephew. Notable attendees at the Armani headquarters included fashion designer Donatella Versace, Fiat heir John Elkann, and composer Ludovico Einaudi.

As the coffin was brought to the church in Rivalta, it was applauded by those gathered on the streetsides in Rivalta. Over the weekend, thousands paid their respects to Giorgio Armani at the Armani headquarters in Milan.

A sign outside a store on Düsseldorf's Königsallee announced the store closure. Although there is no specific mention of other personalities participating in the closure of Armani stores, the event was largely a response by the management of the Armani Group to honor Giorgio Armani's memory. The funeral was held in the afternoon in Rivalta.

The funeral service was a private affair, but the gesture of closing Armani stores worldwide served as a poignant tribute to the designer's life and legacy in the fashion industry. Giorgio Armani's influence will continue to be felt for years to come, with his designs remaining iconic and his contributions to fashion and design serving as a lasting testament to his talent and vision.
