The Technical Relief Agency (THW) from the German state of Bavaria has been deployed in Thuringia and Saxony since last Wednesday, providing essential support to firefighters in the region.

A special unit, the Water Damage/Pumps team from THW, is currently on standby, ready to depart for Saxony at short notice if needed. This team, along with others from local associations such as Selb, Mellrichstadt, Marktredwitz, Bayreuth, Kirchehrenbach, Forchheim, and Aschaffenburg, are already hard at work.

The Bavarian THW personnel are not only providing supplies for fire-fighting water to the firefighters in the affected area but are also supporting leadership and coordination tasks at the deployment sites. In Gohrischheide, around 50 Bavarian THW personnel are currently deployed, with a staging area set up to provide supplies for thousands of firefighters and other aid organizations.

The THW Kronach team traveled with two water transportation containers holding approximately 10,000 liters of water to the affected area. They are also supporting the catering of approximately 600 deployment forces in Gohrischheide.

The THW is a federal operational organization that relies on the commitment of around 88,000 volunteers nationwide. Their work includes bilateral aid, tasks within the European Union's civil protection mechanism, and work on behalf of UN organizations.
