Fundamentals of Skydiving Equipment
At Skydive Orange, the UPT Micro Sigma Tandem parachute system is the equipment of choice for an unforgettable skydiving experience. This two-parachute system includes a main parachute and a reserve parachute, with the latter serving as a backup in case of emergency.
For those embarking on their first tandem skydive, rest assured that all necessary equipment is included in the jump. No additional gear-related items are needed, making the experience as seamless as possible.
The tandem harness securely connects the skydiver to the instructor, ensuring safety while allowing the skydiver to focus on the thrill of the jump. Designed with comfort in mind, the harness is designed to provide a smooth and enjoyable ride.
Skydiving at Skydive Orange requires a valid government-issued photo ID and some form of payment (if necessary). To participate, an open mind, a smile, and a bit of courage are essential.
Appropriate skydiving-friendly clothing is recommended. Wear weather-appropriate, athletic wear that is easy to move in and lace-up sneakers. Skydiving goggles are provided to protect your eyes from wind and debris, ensuring clear visibility. For those who wear glasses, the goggles can be fitted over them.
Some tandem skydiving rigs also come equipped with a drogue, a mini parachute that slows the rate of descent during freefall. The reserve parachute is meticulously inspected and repacked every 180 days by an FAA-certified parachute rigger for your safety.
Within every tandem skydiving rig, an Automatic Activation Device (AAD) initiates the reserve opening sequence in certain altitudes and speeds. The Reserve Static Line (RSL) helps to automatically deploy the reserve parachute in emergency situations.
For those who wish to explore skydiving gear further, Skydive Orange has a gear store on site for customers to browse, try on, and price out skydiving gear. However, it's important to note that a full skydiving setup can cost anywhere from $6,000 to $11,000, depending on various factors.
The weight limit at Skydive Orange for tandem skydiving is 220 lbs, with special accommodations up to 240 lbs for an additional fee.
