Fugitive Refugees Apprehended, Later Sheltered by Federal Police Dresden Following Pursuit at Central Station
In a series of arrests over two days, the Federal Police Inspectorate Dresden successfully apprehended several individuals wanted for various offences in the Dresden region.
On August 19, 2025, a 24-year-old Albanian was arrested at the main station, wanted for armed theft (Public Prosecutor's Office Leipzig) and theft (Public Prosecutor's Office Chemnitz) with a total claim of 2,320 euros. The same day, a 44-year-old man was arrested on an international Euro City train (Prague - Dresden) due to an arrest warrant for driving under the influence. A small bag containing a white substance suspected to be crystal meth was seized during a search.
The following day, on August 20, 2025, a 39-year-old German national, wanted for theft and arson, appeared at the Federal Police Station in Dresden's main station and was arrested. Contrary to initial reports, the arrest did not involve the seizure of a Slovak ID card or a small bag containing a white substance suspected to be crystal meth. The Slovak ID card presented by the arrested man was, however, wanted and was seized.
The Albanian national, who had an entry and residence ban, having been deported to Albania in April 2025, was found to be staying in Germany illegally. Narcotics were seized during the arrests on August 19 and 20, 2025.
Later in the day, at around 19:00, a 37-year-old Romanian was arrested in front of the main station due to an outstanding arrest warrant for fraud with a fine of 450 euros. A clip containing 1.6 grams of cocaine was found in the vehicle and attributed to the Romanian.
The employer of the individuals with arrest warrants paid the total amount of 2,770 euros on the spot. The arrest warrant for the German national was issued by the Dresden District Court.
The arrests on August 19 and 20, 2025, were carried out by the Federal Police Inspectorate Dresden, with several individuals arrested in the Dresden region due to existing arrest warrants.
It's important to note that the arrest on August 20, 2025, was not connected to an international train journey, narcotics, or outstanding fines. The Albanian initially fled on foot through the main station but was stopped and arrested by a federal police officer with the help of a DB security employee.
The Federal Police Inspectorate Dresden continues to work diligently to maintain law and order in the region, apprehending wanted individuals and ensuring that justice is served.
