NEC Nijmegen Fumes Over Last-Minute Transfer of Jenson Seelt to VfL Wolfsburg

In a surprising turn of events, Dutch Eredivisie club NEC Nijmegen has expressed frustration and anger over the last-minute transfer of 22-year-old defender Jenson Seelt to German Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg.

According to Wilco van Schaik, CEO of NEC Nijmegen, the club had verbally agreed to loan Seelt, but Premier League newcomers AFC Sunderland unexpectedly delayed and sent Seelt to Wolfsburg on deadline day instead. Van Schaik described the move as "not how you do business."

Technical Director of NEC, Carlos Aalbers, was particularly upset about the transfer. Aalbers had also sent a text to AFC Sunderland expressing regret over the transfer of Robin Roefs, a goalkeeper, who had already been transferred from NEC to an English club several weeks ago.

Van Schaik stated that a move to Nijmegen had been agreed upon for Seelt, with both NEC and Sunderland having verbally agreed to the loan. He described the transfer to Wolfsburg as "unexpected" and "a done deal" for Seelt, who was expected to join NEC Nijmegen.

The transfer of Seelt to Wolfsburg has caused a stir in his native Netherlands, with NEC Nijmegen claiming that there was a prior verbal agreement with Sunderland for Seelt to go to Nijmegen. The club was kept at bay in the transfer, and NEC is now upset with AFC Sunderland due to the unexpected transfer.

Wolfsburg secured the loan of Seelt on the last day of the transfer window, and the defender has since joined the German club. The transfer has been criticized by Van Schaik, who described it as "angering" and "frustrating" for NEC Nijmegen's management.

Carlos Aalbers was reportedly angrier about the transfer of Seelt, with Wilco van Schaik stating that Aalbers was "angrier about the transfer of Jenson Seelt."

The transfer of Robin Roefs and the potential transfer of Jenson Seelt were separate transactions, with Roefs having already been transferred to an English club several weeks ago. The transfer of Seelt to VfL Wolfsburg has left NEC Nijmegen without a key defender in the final stages of the transfer window.
