"From the outset, we weren't interested in the show."

The super series has come to an end.

Remarkable comment made by top Leverkusen player. - "From the outset, we weren't interested in the show."

Bayer Leverkusen's unbeaten streak of 51 games in professional football came to an end after their defeat to Atalanta Bergamo in the Europa League final. However, Granit Xhaka told RTL that the team didn't consider the unbeaten record a priority.

While it's heartbreaking to lose the final, it's not just about a merely paper-based series. Xhaka mentioned, "[We lost] a final, that's soccer." He had predicted a tough game ahead and his words proved to be true when Atalanta's former Leipzig player, Ademola Lookman, scored three goals to shatter Leverkusen's treble dreams.

Now, Leverkusen has another opportunity to make up for their loss. They're set to compete in the DFB Cup final against Kaiserslautern this Saturday. With a possible victory, they could achieve the double. This could potentially pave the way for a brand new winning streak to begin.
