DHB Cup 2025/26: Semi-Finalists Begin Their Journey
The DHB Cup 2025/26 is gearing up for an exciting round of 16, with several teams vying for a spot in the final four.
The semi-finalists, including the wildcard-qualified team yet to be named, will commence their journey on the weekend of 27 and 28 September. Among the confirmed matches, Sachsen Zwickau will host Bundesliga favourite Borussia Dortmund, a tough challenge for the home team.
Meanwhile, Union Halle-Neustadt will face HC Rödertal, a rematch of their 2nd Bundesliga encounter from the previous season. The Thuringia HC will also play at home against Buxtehuder SV.
In another intriguing match-up, Sport-Union Neckarsulm will take on FRISCH AUF Göppingen, while TG Nürtingen and VfL Oldenburg will square off. The Halle Wildcats, who started the season as Bundesliga newcomers, will face HSV Solingen-Gräfrath, having already shown their mettle with a win against HC Leipzig in their previous cup game.
The HSG Bensheim/Auerbach and VfL Waiblingen have already secured their places in the quarterfinals, with the latter receiving a bye in the round of 16. HC Rödertal advanced with a narrow win against Füchse Berlin.
The home advantage for the Halle derby was drawn by former Oldenburg captain Merle Lampe. The Wildcats won the derby in the DHB Cup against HC Leipzig, setting a strong precedent for their upcoming matches.
The big goal for the 14 teams still in the DHB Cup is the final four in Stuttgart in mid-March 2026. As the games progress, we can expect intense competition and thrilling matches that will keep handball fans on the edge of their seats.
