Freshly constructed Pollinator Highway in Tallinn faced enclosure

Once a barren wasteland under power lines in Põhja-Tallinn, now transformed into a verdant recreational area with diverse play and sports facilities. Alas, for the moment, the local residents can merely gaze at the playgrounds through a wire barrier.

In the heart of Põhja-Tallinn, a long-awaited project has finally come to life - the Pollinator Highway (Putukaväil). Despite a half-year delay, the area beneath high-voltage power lines has been transformed into a vibrant green space, offering play and sports opportunities for all.

Milleenium, a local resident, is one of the many who frequent the Pollinator Highway for walking, cycling, sunbathing, and grilling. He expresses his personal satisfaction with the new addition, stating, "I find it an appealing addition to my backyard."

The Pollinator Highway boasts a variety of features, according to Milleenium's observations. It includes grilling spots, dog areas, and lounge chairs, among other amenities. However, Milleenium does express some confusion about the complaints regarding excessive asphalt and insufficient greenery.

Architectural historian Karin Paulus appreciates the variety of features in the revamped public space, particularly the revamped community garden with a stage and design motifs inspired by the high-voltage power lines.

Elari Udam, head of maintenance services at Tallinn's Urban Environment and Public Works Department, clarifies that the pathways can be opened for use, but all the playground equipment and exercise machines require a usage permit. The companies Korterelamu and Politsei, involved in the construction of the Pollinator Highway, have announced that they will apply for permission to use the playgrounds, sports facilities, and footpaths by the end of July.

Milleenium suggests that people should focus more on the positive aspects of the Pollinator Highway. He appreciates the existing dog areas and suggests adding a net for improved functionality. Despite finding the lounge chairs' material a bit odd, he finds comfort by bringing a blanket from home.

Local opinions on the Pollinator Highway vary widely, with some residents expressing dissatisfaction with the current state of the green space. Milleenium, however, believes that the trees in the Pollinator Highway will grow with time, and the space is still in a construction phase.

Regardless of the ongoing debates, Milleenium encourages everyone to visit the Pollinator Highway and experience its unique charm for themselves. After all, it's a long-awaited project that has finally come to life, offering a fresh breath of green in the heart of the city.
