Free, internet-providing Wi-Fi hotspots set up in Kaarst city center
In the vibrant town of Kaarst, residents and visitors can now enjoy a seamless internet connection, thanks to the recent expansion of its public WLAN network. Mayor Ursula Baum expressed her delight at being able to offer this service, stating that it is an important step towards improving digital infrastructure and enhancing the attractiveness of central urban areas.
The project, which has seen many heavily frequented places equipped with WLAN, was made possible with the help of subsidies totaling 15,000 euros from the EU funding program "WiFi4EU". The installation of the WLAN access points was carried out by "The Cloud Networks Germany" GmbH in collaboration with Circet Deutschland GmbH.
Ten WLAN access points have been installed at six locations within the Kaarst city area. The Kaarst Town Hall, Büttgen Town Hall, Sparkasse in Büttgen including the train station, train station in Holzbüttgen, Sparkasse in Holzbüttgen including Lindenplatz, and Kaarster See beach each received two WLAN access points. These access points offer high bandwidth, easy usability, and a fast internet connection.
Mayor Ursula Baum thanked all partners who made their buildings available for this WLAN project. To use the public WLAN service in Kaarst, simply select the "WiFi4EU" network in your WLAN settings. After the start page opens, click "go online" and accept the terms of service to access the internet.
With this new initiative, Kaarst continues to demonstrate its commitment to providing modern amenities and fostering a digital-friendly environment for its community and visitors alike.
