Fraudulent attempt made over the phone, suspects found on premises with little children present in WETTERAU.
On Monday, July 14, 2025, the Wetterau district police received multiple fraud attempts via telephone in Nidda, as reported by the Central Hesse Police Headquarters - Press Office. A couple with a child was observed in the Leichthammerstraße in Nidda on the night of Monday, July 14, 2025.
The incident occurred at a single-family house in Leichthammerstraße. The couple attempted to open a key cabinet to gain access to the house and went to the back of the building several times. However, they left the property together around 20:50 on Monday evening.
The police are asking for anyone who noticed this couple in the area of Leichthammerstraße on Monday evening to contact the Friedberg criminal police at Tel.: 06031 6010. If unsure, they are advised to consult relatives, neighbours, or other trusted persons.
In all known cases, the called persons saw through the fraudulent schemes and the fraudsters left empty-handed. The police remind the public that they will never ask for money or inquire about financial situations on the phone.
The police also recommend sensitizing family members and acquaintances about fraudsters' schemes. If you receive a suspicious call, the police advise against giving out any information about your financial situation and not to be pressured by callers.
