Fourth Quarter Comeback by Liberty Secures 28-7 Victory over Maine

Liberty University Outshines Maine Black Bears in Dominant 28-7 Victory

In a thrilling college football matchup, Liberty University showcased their offensive prowess, outscoring the Maine Black Bears 28-7. The game was marked by a series of crucial plays and turnovers, with transfer quarterback Ethan Vosko leading the charge for the Flames.

Sincere Baines, a standout running back for Liberty, opened the scoring early in the second quarter with a 77-yard touchdown run. This electrifying play set the tone for the rest of the game. However, the Black Bears responded quickly, with Carter Peevy connecting with Reese Smith for a 9-yard touchdown pass, tying the score at 7 seven seconds before halftime.

The second half of the game was a different story for Maine. The team struggled on offense, with two turnovers, three fourth-down failures, and four punts following Baines' touchdown. In contrast, Liberty capitalised on their opportunities, converting two of their 11 third-down attempts.

Vosko, a transfer from Coastal Carolina, had a stellar game, completing 19 of 33 passes for 197 yards and rushing for an additional 63 yards on 13 carries. He sealed the victory with a 13-yard scoring run with 2:38 remaining in the game.

The Black Bears' passing game, on the other hand, was less successful, resulting in only 132 yards. Peevy completed 13 of 31 passes for 132 yards and an interception. Maine converted zero of their 11 third-down attempts, further hindering their offensive efforts.

The fourth quarter saw more scoring for Liberty, with Evan Dickens catching a 24-yard touchdown and Donte Lee Jr. securing a 16-yard TD catch. Baines also contributed with 11 carries and rushes for 118 yards, proving to be a valuable asset for the Flames' offense.

The game ended with a lopsided scoreline, reflecting Liberty's dominance. Ethan Vosko's impressive performance, coupled with the team's ability to capitalise on Maine's mistakes, propelled Liberty to a 28-7 victory over the Black Bears.
