Four-player cooperative shooter game in development by Mike Booth, former lead of Left 4 Dead, capitalizing on the unique elements that made L4D stand out.
New Co-op Shooter in the Works by Mike Booth, Former Lead of Left 4 Dead
Mike Booth, the project lead of the popular co-op shooter Left 4 Dead, is back with a new game. Booth is now working at Bad Robot Games, the JJ Abrams-led production company, and his new project is a four-player co-op shooter that builds on the foundations of what made Left 4 Dead special.
The game, currently known as "Project Tacoma" in its early stages, is still in development. Interested players will be notified by email and given access to playtests in waves. To gather more information about potential players, a survey has been circulated, asking about platform preference (PC or console), voice chat usage, preferred control method (controller or keyboard and mouse), and participation in popular multiplayer games like Apex Legends, PUBG, or Fortnite.
The survey does not mention any involvement of Bad Robot Games beyond the confirmation that Booth is working on the game. It also does not provide any new information about the game's genre, story, or release date. The user rating of Back 4 Blood, another shooter that expands on the Left 4 Dead formula, is mixed on Steam.
Booth joined Bad Robot Games in 2020 and became the chief creative officer in 2022. He is looking for a limited number of players for upcoming playtests. Interested players can fill out the form at badrobotgames.com.
The survey does not contain any advertisements for games or hardware, nor does it provide any new information about Booth's role within Bad Robot Games or the expansion on the co-op formula mentioned in previous bullet points. The message was confirmed to have been posted by Booth on the Left 4 Dead subreddit.
For those wondering about the game's technical requirements, a minimum PC specification has been listed: RTX3070 or RX6800 or better, 8GB VRAM, 32GB RAM, and a Core i7 CPU or above.
