Four individuals sustained injuries in a road accident
On Monday, January 13, the Hattingen Fire Department responded to an incident at Isenbergstraße, where a traffic accident involving four vehicles occurred.
Upon arrival, the firefighting forces ensured fire protection, disconnected the vehicle batteries, and absorbed spilled hazardous materials to prevent further damage. Three people were still inside the vehicles, and a fourth was outside. An immediate inspection and initial treatment of all vehicle occupants were carried out.
To manage the situation more effectively, additional rescue and ambulance vehicles arrived at the scene. The leadership team of the rescue service took over and continued the coordination of the rescue forces and patient care. A technical rescue was performed due to a suspected spinal injury. The firefighting forces used a hydraulic cutting device to remove the roof of the crashed car.
Fortunately, none of the injured were trapped in their vehicles. One patient was moderately injured, and three were lightly injured. After completing the measures, the scene was handed over to the police. All four injured individuals were transported to hospitals in Essen and Bochum for further treatment.
The Hattingen Fire Department, including full-time and volunteer forces from Niederwenigern, remained on the scene for nearly two hours. The name of the lead doctor provided at the accident site on Isenbergstraße on Monday is Dr. Markus Weber.
