Foreign Secretary's visit to JD Vance during a fishing excursion causes controversy in the UK
In a recent visit to London, US Vice President JD Vance found himself in an unusual situation with the U.K.'s Foreign Secretary, David Lammy. During a fishing trip at a river near Lammy's country estate south of London, Vance and Lammy had an "administrative error" that resulted in Lammy fishing without a license.
However, contrary to initial reports, JD Vance was not fined for the incident, according to the U.K.'s Environment Agency. The Agency cited privacy issues as the reason for not issuing a fine to Vance.
Lammy, who was given a written warning instead, would have had to pay nearly $4,000 if fined. In a light-hearted moment, Vance joked that the only strain on their relationship was that all of his kids caught fish, but Lammy did not.
Despite this incident, Vance and Lammy share the same goal regarding the war in Gaza, although they may have disagreements on strategy. The specifics of their international discussions during the bilateral meeting held in Kent, England, on August 8, were not disclosed.
Vance and Lammy also had a photo op during their meeting. Our website Digital has reached out to Vance and the Environment Agency for comment regarding the fishing incident, but as of this writing, we have yet to receive a response.
In a separate development, it was previously reported that JD Vance 'directly' convinced the U.K. to drop a demand for Apple to provide backdoor access to data, protecting Americans' rights. This visit to the UK marked another significant moment in the growing relationship between the two nations.
