Forcible disappearances identified as Israel's most heinous acts of cruelty towards Palestinians by human rights advocates.

In a statement made on the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances, the Palestinian human rights organization Al-Mezan has accused Israel of committing widespread enforced disappearances against Palestinians.

According to Al-Mezan, since October 2023, Israeli forces have carried out mass arbitrary arrests. Thousands of Palestinians have been subjected to degrading treatment as a result, the organization claims.

Israel has refused to disclose the fate of hundreds of detainees, Al-Mezan reports. The Jordan News Agency has reported these claims made by Al-Mezan. Israel allegedly restricts human rights groups from monitoring the situation of detainees, according to the organization.

Al-Mezan accuses Israel of blocking the International Committee of the Red Cross from visiting detainees, a move that, according to the organization, violates the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.

The Palestinian human rights organization urges the global community to halt the war in Gaza and ensure accountability for what it says are violations of international law. Al-Mezan calls for an international campaign to pressure Israel to disclose the fate of missing Palestinians.

While the international community has not confirmed allegations against Israel regarding the intentional disappearance of Palestinians during the Gaza conflict, there have been reports of severe destruction and calls for ceasefire or humanitarian pauses.

Al-Mezan considers enforced disappearances a "continuous crime" that inflicts psychological, social, and health suffering on families. The organization urges the international community to take action and hold Israel accountable for these alleged violations.
