Bohrainstraße Closure Announced for Canal Enlargement Project
The city of Jena has announced the closure of the Bohrainstraße for over two months starting June 4, 2018, to expand the existing canals. The Eigenbetrieb Stadtentwässerung Pforzheim (ESP), responsible for the project, has requested understanding regarding the traffic disruptions caused by the work.
The closure will affect the Bohrainstraße in the area of the staircase, with the middle part and the 180° curve in the west of the street fully closed from June 4, 2018, to August 3, 2018. Access to the Bohrainstraße will be guaranteed from both sides up to the construction site, and local detours will be signposted during the closure.
The Rodrücken shortcut will also be inaccessible from June 4, 2018, to approximately August 3, 2018. The canal enlargement project is not expected to last beyond August 3, 2018, and it is not specified to affect any areas beyond the Bohrainstraße and the staircase.
The city has made this announcement prior to June 4, 2018, and the information was posted on their website, which may be archived. The exact date of reopening the Bohrainstraße is August 3, 2018, and the closure may cause additional traffic disruptions.
Residents and commuters are advised to plan their routes accordingly and to adhere to the detour signs during the closure period. The ESP apologises for any inconvenience caused and thanks the public for their understanding and cooperation.
