In the world of Kentucky high school sports, several teams and individuals have made noteworthy strides recently. Let's take a look at some of the notable achievements.

Football

Dayton sophomore running back Malachi Kennedy made history in a single game, scoring an impressive eight touchdowns. His performance broke the record for the most touchdowns in a game for a Kentucky high school player since the records were last updated in 2021. Kennedy's touchdowns were a mix of rushing and passing plays, with a 62-yard pass play adding to his tally.

Golf

NewCath and Newport Central Catholic have qualified for the All "A" Classic state golf tournament. Newport Central Catholic will be making their first appearance in the tournament since 2012, while NewCath continues their strong form, aiming to make a mark in the competition.

Meanwhile, Brossart and St. Henry will represent the small schools in the All "A" Classic girls state golf tournament on Saturday at Arlington Golf Course in Richmond. Brossart is returning to the small school state golf tournament for the 12th consecutive year, having won the 10th Region championship.

Volleyball

Scott's volleyball team, under the guidance of Coach Andrea Sullivan, has been on a winning streak, winning seven consecutive matches to raise their record to 8-3. The team is gearing up for a home match against Walton-Verona on Thursday. Coach Sullivan, who boasts a coaching record of 502-319 in 23 seasons, was named the 10th Region Coach of the Year last season after Scott won their sixth region championship and made it to the semifinals of the state tournament for the first time.

Villa Madonna's volleyball team, coached by Sandi Kitchen, has a record of 5-4 going into a match at Ludlow on Thursday. Coach Kitchen, who has a coaching record of 501-332 in 31 seasons, was also named the 9th Region Coach of the Year in 2022 when her small-school team posted a 22-7 record.

Beechwood will be making their first appearance in the All "A" Classic state volleyball tournament since 2015.

Record Breaker

Ryle senior linebacker Jacob Savage made history by becoming his team's all-time leader in tackles. Savage led the Raiders in tackles for the last three seasons and will be a force to reckon with in the upcoming matches.

The All "A" Classic state volleyball tournament is set for Sept. 12-13 at Owensboro Convention Center, and the All "A" Classic boys state golf tournament will take place at Gibson Bay Golf Course in Richmond on Saturday.

These achievements serve as a testament to the hard work, dedication, and talent of the players and coaches involved. As the season progresses, we look forward to seeing more exciting performances and records being broken.
