Toronto Argonauts: Nick Arbuckle Stepping Up, but Chad Kelly's Return Looms

Nick Arbuckle has been a steady presence for the Toronto Argonauts this season, starting all 12 games and leading the team with 38 rushes for 150 yards and two scores. He has also shown his prowess as a passer, completing 72.8 percent of his passes for a total of 3,828 yards, 23 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions.

Despite Arbuckle's solid performance, the Argonauts find themselves in third place in the East Division standings with a record of 4-8. However, they have managed to win back-to-back games against the B.C. Lions and Tiger-Cats, providing a glimmer of hope for the remainder of the season.

The question on many fans' minds is whether Chad Kelly, who won a Grey Cup with Toronto in 2022 and was named the league's Most Outstanding Player in 2023, will return to the field. Kelly has not played for the Argonauts since suffering a fractured right tibia and fibula during the East Final last year.

Head coach Ryan Dinwiddie has previously expressed concerns about playing Kelly due to the team's offensive line struggles, but it is not specified whether he will be playing in the next game against the Edmonton Elks on September 13, 2025. Kelly himself has hinted at a potential return, posting a video on Instagram featuring clips of him wearing an Argonauts uniform at BMO Field and including the words "the comeback" and a date, September 13, 2025.

In his career, Kelly has dressed for 45 regular-season CFL games, throwing for 6,871 yards, 35 touchdowns, and 23 interceptions. He has also rushed for 599 yards and 19 scores. If he does return, he will likely play as the quarterback, not the goalkeeper, for the Toronto Argonauts.

As the Argonauts prepare for their game against the Edmonton Elks, fans will be eagerly awaiting news of Kelly's return. With his impressive track record and the team's current struggles, his presence could be just what they need to turn their season around.
