Food regulations of Member States regarding food labeling are to be aligned, as suggested by the Commission in their proposed directive.

In the face of ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, the German Hotel and Restaurant Association (Dehoga) has urged the government to take swift action to support the struggling hospitality sector. Dehoga's CEO, Ingrid Hartges, has been vocal about the need for a reopening perspective after January 10.

Hartges has emphasized the importance of preserving public living spaces, which are central to people's quality of life. She also proposed advancing the digitization of health authorities to break infection chains, a move that could aid in the safe reopening of hotels and restaurants.

One of the key concerns for Hartges is the prolonged closure of businesses, with some fearing they might remain closed until February or March, while the rest of the economy and schools function. She appealed for the event and cultural sector to remain in the market, and suggested organizing rapid tests for events as a potential solution to ensure safety.

The Dehoga has also requested a faster pace in vaccinations, believing that a quick and efficient deployment of the vaccine would help in the reopening efforts. However, no government chancellories have been reported to have made statements about advance payments of aid funds for affected hotel and restaurant businesses so far. The information mainly involves tax reductions and sector challenges but does not specifically mention advance aid payments from any government office.

Despite these challenges, Hartges remains optimistic and continues to advocate for the industry's recovery. She believes that with the right measures in place, the hospitality sector can bounce back and continue to contribute significantly to Germany's economy and quality of life.
