Florida GOP Candidate Uses Tinder to Woo Young Female Voters With Bold Policies

James Fishback, a Republican candidate for Florida governor, has turned to Tinder to reach young female voters. His campaign strategy includes a dating profile promoting policies like paid maternity leave and family support. The move has sparked discussion alongside his controversial views on platforms like OnlyFans.

Fishback is one of several Republicans vying to replace term-limited Governor Ron DeSantis. His campaign tactics, including a call for donations to upgrade his Tinder account, have drawn attention beyond traditional political circles.

Fishback's Tinder profile highlights his stance on family-friendly policies. He argues that Florida should provide paid maternity leave to all mothers. His goal is to make it easier for young women to marry, buy homes, and raise families.

The candidate's approach took an unexpected turn when he ran out of likes on Tinder. He then asked supporters for donations to upgrade to Tinder Plus, allowing him to continue swiping. This request came alongside his broader campaign, which includes a proposed 'sin tax' on OnlyFans creators. Fishback has criticised the platform for what he calls 'cultural degeneracy,' linking it to the sale of nude photos.

Controversy has followed Fishback beyond his dating app strategy. Reports have tied him to racist group chats involving young conservatives, leading to university investigations and calls for expulsion. While no direct reactions from young female voters in Florida have been recorded, his tactics and associations have fuelled debate.

Fishback joins a crowded Republican field that includes U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds, former Florida House Speaker Paul Renner, and Lt. Gov. Jay Collins. Each candidate is positioning themselves to succeed DeSantis, with Fishback's unconventional methods setting him apart.
