Fire at Gut Weißenhaus: Third Straw Stack Blaze in a Week
A fire at Gut Weißenhaus in Lübeck, involving a stack of straw bales, occurred on the morning of August 26, 2025. This is the third fire involving straw stacks in the area within a week.
Upon arrival, the emergency services found the straw bales fully ablaze. The police, in close coordination with the owners, are allowing the square bales to burn in a controlled manner with the help of the THW (Technical Relief Organisation of the Federal Republic of Germany).
The nearby federal highway B202 has been closed due to the fire and heavy smoke. The police have set up a detour via Kaköhl, Wangels, and Farve.
The Criminal Police are investigating the incident on suspicion of arson. However, no suspect has been named or interrogated in connection with the arson suspicions for the fires in Wangels and Gut Weißenhaus on August 23, 24, and 26, 2025. Investigations are ongoing, and no suspicious persons or vehicles were found during police patrols.
