Fires erupt in Grimma and Naunhof on August 29, with straw bales ablaze and a significant traffic accident reported in Naunhof.

In a series of unfortunate events, several incidents occurred in eastern Germany on August 28, 2025.

Renovation Work Leads to Fire in Schulstraße, Grimma

A 37-year-old German was carrying out renovation work on a property in Schulstraße, Grimma when a container caught fire. The blaze spread to several adjacent buildings, causing significant damage estimated at around 300,000 euros. The fire department and police were quick to respond, with the volunteer fire brigades of Grimma and Hohnstädt managing to bring the fire under control. The police have initiated investigations, suspecting negligent arson as the cause.

Traffic Accidents Cause Serious Injuries

On the same day, there were two traffic accidents that resulted in serious injuries. One occurred near Delitzsch on the B184, involving a Peugeot and a Mercedes. Both drivers were hospitalized, and the total damage is estimated at around 60,000 euros. Another accident took place in the Leipzig district on the S45, where three people were seriously injured.

Hay Bale Fire in Thallwitz

In a separate incident, approximately 750 hay bales caught fire in Thallwitz at 19:05. Fortunately, no one was injured, but the extent of the property damage is yet to be determined. The cause of the fire is still unknown.

Aggravated Theft in Zwenkau

In a case of aggravated theft, unknown individuals stole a gray Ford Focus using a tow truck in Zwenkau at 20:45. The Ford Focus, first registered in August 2021, is not licensed and has a current value of about 15,000 euros. The police are investigating the case and have issued a warrant for the vehicle and the registration certificate.

Stolen Vehicle and Registration Certificate in Leipzig

Between August 18 and 23, 2025, a blue Toyota Landcruiser with the license plate L-KP 217 was stolen in Leipzig, along with the vehicle registration certificate part 1.

Accident on Weberstraße, Grimma

On August 28, 2025, a fire broke out at the intersection of Schulstraße and Weberstraße in Grimma. The accident involved a Mercedes 380 SL and a Seat Leon. The drivers and a 10-year-old passenger in the Seat Leon were hospitalized. The damage is estimated at 35,000 euros.

The B184 Closed for Accident Investigation

Another traffic accident occurred near Naunhof on the B184, resulting in two people being seriously injured. The road was closed for the duration of the accident investigation.

As the investigations continue, authorities are working diligently to uncover the causes of these incidents and bring those responsible to justice.
