Firefighters' Workplace Equipped with Merlo Telescopic Loader
A new telescopic handler, the TF 35.11 TT-145, manufactured by Merlo, has been deployed for a significant project in Salzgitter. The special-purpose vehicles for this project are provided by Steinwedel Arbeitsbühnen and Baumaschinen from Hildesheim.
The telescopic handler is designed to handle off-road conditions, featuring permanent all-wheel drive, an optional maximum speed of 40 km/h, and an engageable differential lock. Powered by a 145 HP motor (Deutz 3.6L), it boasts a hydraulic pump with a capacity of 150 L/250 bar (Load Sensing). For improved ground clearance, the handler comes equipped with portal axles.
Safety has been a priority in the selection process. The telescopic handler is equipped with a leveling system for comfortable loading cycles, special lighting, a certified work platform system, and a reversing camera integrated in the cabin display. A front protective grid has been installed to protect the operator from falling objects, and rear flashers in the mudguard, holders for compressed air bottles, breathing connections, and breathing masks have been added for the special-purpose vehicles.
Maximilian Seifert of the Salzgitter professional fire brigade stated that Merlo was not primarily selected as the first supplier due to manufacturer neutrality. However, the performance description or requirement specification created for the procurement process highlighted the telescopic handler's unique features and capabilities, making it an ideal choice for the project.
Steinwedel has a long history of success with special builds on telecopers, with about six years of significant topics in this area. The specially customized vehicles for the professional fire brigade of Salzgitter were manufactured by Mercedes-Benz. Realized special solutions for the Salzgitter project include a RETTBOX signal system from Martin, holders for hand lamps and radio equipment, and protective grids for lighting with integrated front flashers.
The telescopic handler also comes with attachments such as pallet forks, lifting hooks, shovels, and a swiveling 3-person work platform, making it versatile and suitable for various tasks. It has a maximum vehicle width of 2310 mm and features Merlo's patent "side shift" for added maneuverability.
The deployment of the new telescopic handler marks an important step in the Salzgitter project, demonstrating the commitment to safety, performance, and innovation in the execution of this significant undertaking.
