Firefighters' Union in North Rhine-Westphalia, VdF-NRW, misses opportunity to participate in the ballot for firefighter representatives in the bureaucracy.
The German Fire Brigade Association (DFV) held a virtual delegates' assembly today, with several notable candidates vying for vice-presidency positions. However, the results have left the Association of Fire Brigades in North Rhine-Westphalia (VdF NRW) feeling disappointed.
Dr. Jan Heinisch, chairman of VdF NRW, expressed his disappointment with the election result in the DFV. The VdF NRW presented an excellent candidate for the vice-presidency, but the candidate was not elected. Bernd Schneider, deputy chairman of VdF NRW, based in Wuppertal, echoed Heinisch's sentiments, stating that the DFV missed an opportunity to present a timely and forward-thinking image by not electing Birgit Kill, a female candidate from VdF NRW.
Kill, a candidate of VdF NRW, received 35 out of 153 votes (22.88%). Sascha Guzy from Berlin and Lars Oschmann, a representative of the state fire brigade associations, were also candidates for the vice-presidency positions. Oschmann was re-elected as vice-president of the DFV, while Karl-Heinz Frank, fire chief of Frankfurt am Main, was elected as a new vice-president with 100% approval.
The news about the DFV election was transmitted via news aktuell. For inquiries regarding the Association of Fire Brigades in NRW e.V., you can contact Christoph Schöneborn at +49 (01 70) 2 21 80 32. Incorporating more women into the male-dominated world of fire brigades is one of the most important future tasks for VdF NRW. The current chairwoman of the board of the Association of Fire Brigades in NRW e.V. cannot be identified from the available search results. Schneider also emphasised the need for more women to take on responsibilities in the fire brigades.
The VdF NRW sent 15 voting delegates to the DFV election, but they did not elect their candidate. Despite the election results, VdF NRW remains committed to promoting gender diversity and forward-thinking policies within the fire brigade sector.
