Firefighters Hurt During Incident at Wilmington Gas Blast

On Tuesday, a gas explosion rocked the East Carolina Veterinary Medical Center in Wilmington, North Carolina. The explosion was caused by a vehicle that hit gas lines and drove off on Bob King Drive from New Center Drive.

The cause of the vehicle accident that led to the gas explosion remains unknown. The driver involved in the incident has been identified as Jason Lee Beach. Reports suggest that he has signs of impairment and is currently in custody.

Thankfully, no people were inside the East Carolina Veterinary Medical Center when the explosion occurred. However, three firefighters were injured while responding to the incident. Two of these firefighters have non-life-threatening injuries, while one of them has severe burn injuries on their hands and arms.

As of 1 p.m., most of New Centre Drive has been shut down to traffic due to the incident. No further details about the condition of the injured firefighters or any damage or casualties beyond the injured firefighters have been provided.
